Please be informed that a Botho University student has been confirmed COVID-19 positive on September 8, 2020. The student has been admitted at Sir Ketumile Hospital since September 8, 2020. This student attended Software Engineering Batch 1 from 0700 – 0930 hours in Classroom S02-14 and C7 Java 11 from 0930 – 1200 hours in Classroom S01-06 on August 31, 2020.
This means that all students and lecturers who attended the said classes on the above-mentioned date will be contacted and given specific instructions including immediate isolation by COVID-19 officials. Any student who attended the said classes and has not been contacted yet should immediately go on self-isolation and call the HR Manager at 363 5490/7132 0063 or the Occupational Health Practitioner (Nurse) at 363 5474/7163 1833.
This case and others highlight the ever-present risk of the pandemic to members of our community and thus the importance of strict adherence to health protocols that we have on Campus.
The purpose of this mail is to alert staff and students of the aforementioned case and urge everyone to remain calm but stay vigilant at all times in order to prevent further spread of the virus. To this extent and once again, we call on everyone to frequently wash hands and sanitize, cover nose and mouth with a mask and maintain social distance in all public spaces both on and off campus. Please note that the wearing of Masks is compulsory and will henceforth be enforced through the Occupational Health Practitioner’s Office.
NB: Botho University fumigated the whole of Swaneng Block on September 5, 2020 as part of the continuing efforts to keep our premises safe from Coronavirus germs. This is the Block with a high human traffic and in which the said student attended classes on the above-mentioned date.
We would also urge everyone to remain compassionate and not to stigmatize anyone suspected or confirmed to have been infected with Coronavirus. We continue to thank our local and international front-line workers in the health services, border control, law enforcement and other essential service provisions for keeping us healthy and safe.
Together we can defeat COVID-19.
