Balancing your social and academic life

Hey you! Yes you.

Are you having a hard time balancing your social and academic life?

More especially now that you’re in varsity and on top of that you are studying online…

You’re not the only one!

However, you have to make sure you find time for both, as one can be too depressing or too distracting.

While some would rather ‘turn up’ once a month and then have the rest of the days for the month studying…While others might prefer to attend gym the day they are not that busy with school work, but as long as you find balance between your social and academic life, that’s all that matters.

Here are a few tips to attend your FOMO:

Set priorities

This is the most important yet crucial recipe to surviving varsity. There would be so many things to do, but if you set a priority from the most important one to the least, that will help you manage your time effectively and also achieve your goals without any stress or feeling pressured.

Go out and socialize

Who said just because you’re in varsity you should always be behind the desk studying? That’s not the point, you need to unwind a bit once in a while and have fun. In order to maintain a healthy personality, you need to socialize with other people and get out there. However, to much of it can affect your academic performance.

Resist temptations

This is mostly caused by unstructured time. Be able to say “No, I can’t go out tonight I have an exam tomorrow” or “This will actually have to skip me” it’s totally okay and understandable, matter of fact it will show that you are a person who stands by their decision and is not easily tempted.

Last but not least, discipline

It very vital for one to have self-discipline, to be able to see your mistakes and hat to improve. Being able to follow your own rules that you set for yourself.

Overall, there is no right or wrong formula to balancing both your social and academic life, you just have to find one that works best for you.

It’s always important to remember why you varsity is important and the reason you are doing it. It won’t be easy but hopefully with these few tips, you will be able to balance your social and academic life.
