The school leavers guide to…the other side of the academic pool

Hello School leavers…

Exam season is wrapping up now, and that means many of us will soon be joining the school leavers ranks. It can be a scary place to know, we know, we have all been there.

You are probably wondering what awaits you at the other side of the academic pool, once you have crossed over from tertiary learning to professional study.

Some of you might already know what career path you want to take. Good for you! You are confident in your career choice. Maybe by now, you have even gotten your high school results and you are ready and excited to start your first degree.

Exhilaration is finally running in and we know you just can’t wait to get started with your chosen course but perhaps you still are not sure what can you expect in your journey to attain your first degree?

Well, let us give you a glimpse into the life of someone who is already part of the Botho University family.

Meet Sifiso, a South African young man who has recently enrolled with Botho University Blended Distance and learning. Sifiso chose to study BSc (Hons) in Accounting.

He felt so strongly about this course and knew he could excel better in the field since he knows that he is pretty much good with mathematics and wishes to become an entrepreneur one day.

It’s still his first year and he has made it in, how has this been for him?

Firstly for starters, Sifiso realized he couldn’t afford to do a degree full-time studies hence he opted for online part-time courses where he will be able to balance his personal life and studying, all at the same.

Botho University has also given him the perfect platform to study in the field of his passion and also with very flexible and affordable payment terms. We call it pay-as-you learn, which means you study at a pace that allows you to get a part-time job while you study.
A few tips to consider if you’re considering online study:

  • Treat an online course like any physical in-class course. The qualification you get carries the exact same weight if you are studying with a reputable and legitimate university
  • Learn how to prioritize your personal/business life and student life.
  • Create a suitable time table to always remind of your studies, assignments and tests.
  • Find a quiet location for study time, preferably where you can access to strong internet connection and where you can concentrate whilst attending online classes.

Botho University has a variety of undergraduate degrees for you to choose from. Visit http://bit.ly/BrowseAllCourses and cross that bridge to your first degree with BU today.
